Chapter 12.5
Change from Take-off Attitude to Climbing Attitude
When the speed Vx is reached, the aerodynamic conditions are met for the aircraft to be progressively brought from the take-off attitude to the climb attitude.
Flap Retraction
Depending on the type of aircraft and the take-off procedure, the flaps are set according the AFM. If the additional lift is no longer required, the flaps can be retracted according to the following criteria:
- The climb speed for the CLEAN CONFIGURATION is reached
- All major obstacles have been passed
- The climb attitude is stabilized
Flaps Retraction

If nothing is prescribed, the first turn is not initiated below 500 ft / AAL. The criteria for the first turn are:
- According to the VISUAL APPROACH CHART / VAC
- The terrain requires an adapted flightpath
