Level-off
Chapter 7.4
Objectives
To know the two types of LEVEL OFF
To know the procedure for the transition from climb to the straight and level flight
To know the manipulations during the LEVEL OFF
Transition from Climb to Straight and Level Cruise Flight
For level flight, after stabilizing the attitude of the cruise flight, the power is adjusted according to the AFM PERFORMANCE TABLES.
Transition from climb to Straight and Level Flight in the Circuit
When reaching the downwind altitude, one passes to a straight and level flight attitude.
The aircraft is accelerated only to reach the initial approach speed.
When this speed has been reached, the power is reduced to a preselected value.
Procedure Transition into Cruise / LEVEL OFF
Questions
What are the two kinds of transitions you know for a transition from climb to straight and level flight?
- Passing from climb to cruise power setting
- Passing from climb to straight and level flight airspeed setting in the aerodrome cirucit
Chronologically name the actions taken when transitioning from climb to cruise.
- Attitude
- Power
- Trim
- Mixture set
Why, when leveling off from climb to cruise, you have to wait with the power reduction after the straight and level flight has been established?
- The aircraft must first accelerate to its cruising airspeed
