Departure

Chapter 21.2

Procedure on a controlled aerodrome with GROUND and TOWER

At a controlled aerodrome, the first call shall be made in accordance with the procedure in the chapter «First radio contact» and the instructions of air traffic control shall be followed.

Procedure on a controlled aerodrome with GROUND and TOWER

If the pilot is ready for departure, he/she shall report this to the air traffic controller. If taxiing has been conducted on GROUND, the pilot shall be instructed to report for departure on the TOWER frequency:

After the frequency change, the pilot calls the TOWER:

When the reporting point is reached, the position and altitude are reported.

Procedure on a controlled aerodrome «only» with TOWER

At a controlled aerodrome, the first call shall be made in accordance with the procedure in the chapter «First radio contact» and the instructions of air traffic control shall be followed.

Procedure on a controlled aerodrome «only» with TOWER

When the pilot is ready for departure, he reports back to the TOWER:

While taxiing back or when reaching the beginning of the runway, the take-off clearance is normally given:

When the reporting point is reached, the position and altitude are reported.

Procedure at an uncontrolled aerodrome

On uncontrolled aerodromes, the same sequence is basically followed as described in the chapter «First radio contact». However, since there is no air traffic control to give permission, the call must be adapted accordingly. Instead of the «request», the pilot communicates his intention directly, taking into account any intentions communicated by other pilots.

At uncontrolled aerodromes or at aerodromes where traffic control is not active, the called ground station will be called with the name of the aerodrome and the suffix «Aerodrome».

Procedure at an uncontrolled aerodrome

When the pilot is ready for departure, he announces this on the radio:

If no other aircraft reports on approach and the runway and approach are clear, the pilot shall report his intention and carry out the take-off.

The pilot reports leaving the frequency, position and altitude:
