The mixture control sets the amount of fuel added to the intake airflow.

Climb
For light aircraft in the climb, a rich mixture contributes to engine cooling.
Descent
Mixture lever must be set to RICH or an intermediate position before starting descent.
ENGINE SHUT DOWN with the MIXTURE CONTROL
To stop the engine, the MIXTURE CONTROL is pulled back to the LEAN position (according to CHECKLIST and AFM).
