Introduction
In this chapter you will learn the correct behaviour in abnormal situations and emergencies. The focus is on learning a basic procedure that is applied in such situations. This basic procedure helps to approach the matter in a systematic and considered manner while limiting the possible damage.
Abnormal situations and emergencies can occur at all stages of a flight. This causes pressure and stress.
If you are surprised by such a situation, it is particularly important that your first reaction is in accordance with the correct procedure. This is achieved through good mental preparation, continuous training and careful flight planning. The procedures and controls for abnormal situations and emergencies must be as precise as those for normal situations.
The aircraft specific procedures for abnormal and emergency situations are described in the Airplane Flight Manual / AFM.
