Chapter 12.9
Use the full length of the runway
Depending on the possibilities, take-off roll (TAKE OFF RUN) must be carried out along the length of the runway available. On extended runways, the runway can be back-tracked up to the take-off position with the authorization of the air traffic controller.
Use the full length of the runway
The air traffic controller’s proposals to take off from taxiway intersection / INTERSECTION TAKE-OFF should be accepted only on very long runways.
The following criteria have to be examined:
- The use of the entire length of the runway gives a margin of safety
- By using the entire runway, all the noise generated by the low-flying flight around the aerodrome is reduced
Turn off LANDING LIGHTS after take-off
The most sensible time to turn off the lights after take-off depends on several factors:
Visibility, haze, backlight, twilight
Traffic situation:
- - dense traffic in the circuit
- traffic coming in the opposite direction or intersecting on the routes of departure or arrival
You decide when you turn off the lights, taking all factors into account. Check at the CLIMB CHECK and at latest during the CRUISE CHECK whether the headlights are on or off.
