Fuel Injection Pump

Chapter 4.11

Using the manual PRIMER when starting the engine

Some school aircraft are equipped with a manual injection pump / PRIMER. This hand pump injects fuel directly into the suction tube just before the intake valves. The calculation of the quantity to be injected is carried out according to the AFM.

After use, it is necessary to lock the PRIMER. If it remained in an open, unlocked position, the engine would receive an additional amount of fuel through the PRIMER duct. The mixture would then become too rich. The engine will not run smoothly.

A bayonet system ensures locking.
