Mixture Setting for Take-off and Climb

For basic school airplanes, if the AFM does not prescribe anything special, leave the MIXTURE setting to the FULL RICH position for take-off and initial climb at sea level.

For take-off from high-altitude aerodromes, the mixture should be adjusted if possible. The procedure is given in the AFM or in the engine operating manual.

Short Field Take-off

Procedures and performance SHORT FIELD TAKE OFF or MAXIMUM TAKE OFF PERFORMANCE are contained in the AFM.

Soft Field Take-off

Procedures and performance tables for soft field take-off and take-off from soft surfaces are contained in the AFM.
