Level-off

Chapter 8.4

Objectives

To know the procedure for Level-off

To know the procedure for Level-off Cruise (POWER CONTROLLED FLIGHT)

To know the procedure for Level-off Circuit (POWER CONTROLLED FLIGHT)

Level-off from the descent

There are two kinds of transitions:

1. Leveling off into CRUISE from the descent

  • The power is increased according to the tables for the flight at cruising speed

Level off from the descent

There are two kinds of transitions:

2. Leveling off into the CIIRCUIT at a reduced constant airspeed.

  • The power of the engine is reduced to a value at which the initial approach speed is eventually stabilized.

Procedure Transition into Cruise, POWER / ATTITUDE / TRIM

Transition from descent into climb with a GO AROUND

The GO AROUND / BALKED LANDING procedure is described in Chapter 13.

Questions

What is the correct sequence for manipulations during the transition from a descent to a straight and level flight?

  • POWER
  • ATTITUDE
  • TRIM
  • Mixture set

When entering the aerodrome circuit, you go directly from a descent into a SPEED CONTROLLED FLIGHT. What power do you set when you enter the straight and level flight?

  • A known value for maintaining the preselect speed
