Cockpit Organisation

Chapter 2.4

COCKPIT PREPARATION Procedures

By conducting COCKPIT PREPARATION procedures, we can test systems prior to starting the engine and ready them for the next step in the process.

This method of working guarantees a sure and quick excecution of the RUN-UP and the CHECK BEFORE ENGINE START and the CHECK BEFORE DEPARTURE. This prevents unnecessary blocking of traffic lanes and RUN-UP POSITIONS. After leaving the PARKING POSITION there are only a few checks to make before you are ready for departure.

Allow enough time for the COCKPIT PREPARATION.

Cockpit Preparation

Systems are checked either from left to right or within the context that they share.

For Example:
The fuel system consists of the fuel tanks, fuel level indicators, drain valves, selector switch, auxiliary pump, mixture control, etc..

- Check the system within the context it shares.

- Make judgements concerning the position of levers and switches and their corresponding displays.

- Verbally call out all items by their correct name, and you will become familiar with the cockpit layout.

- Use correct terms, such as «FUEL», and not «juice»

Wearing parachutes

For aerobatic flights we equipe ourselves with parachutes. Their usage and function should be explained by the flight instructor.

Each time we buckle the parachute we must check that the pull handle is in the correctposition.

Parachutes should never be placed on the gound or on grass, and they should always beprotected from the sun and humidity.
