Entry into a Turn

Chapter 9.2

Lookout

Before starting a turn it is very important to do a LOOKOUT, in order to be efficient, you have to follow a procedure, giving priority to the airspace in the direction of the turn.

Turning Technique

The turn must be fluid and coordinated, beginning with the deflection of the aileron control in the intended direction, resulting in a rolling motion and the aircraft starts to turn in the direction of the steering.

Turning Technique

Initiate:

  • The aircraft is first banked with the aileron control and then stabilized
  • At the same time the adverse yaw is corrected with the rudder (center the ball!)
  • By appropriate back pressure on the elevator control, maintain the starting altitude with the least possible deviation
