Checks and Procedures

Procedures

Procedures

A PROCEDURE describes the way something must be performed

For example: actions for take-off and landing are PROCEDURES

Two compelling reasons for the strict application of standard procedures:

  • Observance of Limitations dictated in the AFM
  • Usage of a rational and sensible technique

Procedures

From this consideration arises the following working method:

  • Procedures must be performed in the same manner by all users
  • Each procedure, each check shall be fully implemented from the first to the last point
  • A common language will be used, so that expressions have the same content and the same meaning
  • All procedures shall be voiced out loud

Checks

The full and proper performance of one or more procedures are carried out and verified using CHECKS

  • Each CHECK carries its own name
  • The beginning and end are voiced out loud
  • All checklist items and indications / positions identified shall be voiced out loud

Interruptions during the performance of checks and procedures

For attitude control, observance of airspace and radio communications/ RTF, it is sometimes necessary to interrupt for a short time a PROCEDURE or CHECK.

What should not be done

Panic (You should never panic)

You should not point around in cockpit

You should not tap on the instrument's glass with the fingers
